New York Academy of Sciences launches Science Writing Associates Program

The New York Academy of Sciences is pleased to announce the launch of a Science Writing Associates Program that will give New York metropolitan area–graduate students and postdocs the opportunity to build their writing skills and credentials. Each Associate will attend at least three (3) Academy symposia per year in his or her area of expertise and will contribute a 1200 to 1500–word event summary for each symposium, to be featured in the event eBriefings on the Academy’s website: www.nyas.org/Publications/Ebriefings/Default.aspx.

On June 30th, 2011, Science Alliance and Scientists Without Borders cohosted the event Innovating on a Shoestring: Medical Technologies for the Developing World. Over 70 people participated in person and via the web to hear about work being carried out at MIT's Innovations in International Health (IIH) program. A new group has been created on the Scientists Without Borders platform to encourage communication and collaboration among attendees and anyone else interested in the topic.
