The Job Search
At this point, you will be busy looking for available jobs, crafting your application materials, interviewing, and evaluating and negotiating offers. Because this stage is extremely time-consuming, it’s difficult to devote adequate attention to self-reflection and career development activities in parallel- a reason why it’s best to not wait until you’re ready to leave your graduate program or postdoctoral fellowship to start the career planning process. For help with this, you should become acquainted with your campus career services office and/or postdoctoral affairs office and take advantage of their programming and counseling services (if available).
