Career Preparation
This is the time to be thinking about what knowledge, skills and experiences you can acquire to either prepare yourself for a particular career path or enable you to know whether a career path is a good fit. This could involve taking a course to learn about a new field, participating in extracurricular activities to hone your teamwork and leadership skills, or volunteering/interning to gain relevant work experience. Writing out an individual development plan will allow you to take meaningful steps toward achieving your career goals. Comparing your skills to the National Postdoctoral Association’s list of Core Competencies is a good way to identify areas you need to develop.
